What is Fate?
Fate is a free RPG system that focuses on telling stories and balancing characters based on story significance, rather than points and cool powers. It's the system of choice for GMs who are looking for rules that get out of the way of the story, but still provide enough structure to get the job done.
The Fate system is based on the Open Gaming License version of Fudge, and was previously based upon the Fudge License version.
If you think you'd be interested in using Fate for one of your own projects, free or commercial, please contact us and let us know!
About Fate 3.0
Fate has recently undergone a major revision (dubbed "Fate 3.0"), which is slowly getting released to the public in the form of specific games, to be followed up with a general, free electronic release of the core system.

Spirit of the Century
The first such Fate 3.0 game is the smash hit Spirit of the Century. SOTC is an exuberant entry into the arena of pulp RPGs, and has been called by Adventure! designer Bruce Baugh, "by a wide margin the best pulp game I've yet read, and yes, I do include the one I co-developed in that."
If you're looking for some fast, crazy fun, Spirit of the Century is the game for you. Spirit of the Century is currently on sale in softcover, hardcover, and PDF formats.
The Dresden Files RPG
The authors of Fate are currently hard at work on The Dresden Files RPG, which will use a version of Fate 3.0 similar to that found in Spirit of the Century, but changed to better suit the darker, grittier nature of the series of novels written by Jim Butcher.
Note: This wikidot is a modified version of the Fate SRD and has some (albeit small) differences, such as: layout, design, omission of words or phrases, rewording sentences, or more.
